    Guest Book
Here are some comments taken from our guest book.

“Our second stay at Mill Cottage has been equally as enjoyable as the first. Thank you so much for providing everything we could wish of a holiday cottage and more!

The week has flown by. We have revisited old haunts and otherwise just pottered. We walked from the house to Shepherds Law in lovely spring sunshine, found the Hermitage, and even got to meet Brother Harold! The church there is a tremendous achievement and reminded us of a little corner of Greece!

And now we are returning south, leaving you with our best wishes for a successful summer with your holiday house.”
    C & T H (Oxfordshire)

”We really enjoyed our short stay in your delightful cottage so very warm and welcoming! It was so nice to come to Eglingham where my great-grandparents had lived in the late 1800s and raised their family. We hope to be back again!”
    G & W I (Dunbartonshire)

“We have had a lovely week in the cottage. It was a shame the weather was wet and wild but lovely to return to such a cosy and warm home. Everything has been 5 Stars and we look forward to returning in the future.”
    J & C (Clitheroe, Lancs)

”What a beautiful holiday cottage. The Welcome Grocery-Pack was a pleasant surprise and the bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Spotlessly clean and comfortable, Mill Cottage is a credit to your dedication and hard work. We will definitely recommend this fabulous little gem to friends and family.”
    T & S (Leeds)

“Beautiful cottage, great location, stunning beaches.”

Access Statement for Mill Cottage, Eglingham

Mill Cottage is at the heart of the Northumbrian village of Eglingham, seven miles north of Alnwick. The cottage sleeps up to two people.

Mill Cottage, believed to date back to the 18th century, has been comprehensively redeveloped, extended, furnished and equipped to a high standard.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Mill Cottage is in the middle of the village, directly opposite Village Farm, just down the hill from The Tankerville Arms in the main street.

    Cottage Access

There are two access routes to the cottage’s front door: up several narrow steps from the front gate on the main street’s narrow footpath, which is uneven in places; or via the drive and parking area located slightly above the cottage, again beyond several steps. The lower part of the drive is shared by neighbours and must not be obstructed.

The cottage comprises a ground-floor living room and dining kitchen (with cloakroom and utility rooms off) and, on the first floor, a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with basin, bath with shower over, and wc.

There are formal and informal garden areas, the latter giving access down a series of steep steps to the Eglingham Burn.

Overall, Mill Cottage and its surrounding land are set out over several levels and are unlikely to be suitable for those with material ambulatory disabilities.

    Shops, etc

The nearest shop, cashpoint and fuel supplies are at Hedgeley Services, about four miles away. More comprehensive shops and services, including supermarkets, are available in Alnwick and Wooler, respectively seven and ten miles away.

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

The cottage keys will usually be collected from the owner’s property next door. Alternative arrangements can be made, but these will be confirmed prior to your arrival.

The cottage driveway accommodates one car, but on-street parking is also available. The steps from the driveway to the terrace leading to the front door have sensor-activated lights.

    Interior Fixtures, Fittings and Equipment

Heating comprises a log-burner in the living room (a supply of logs is available, with guests able to replenish the log-basket from the wood-shed in the garden), oil-fired central heating throughout, and electrically-heated floors in the kitchen and bathroom.

Lighting is natural with dimmer-controlled LED ceiling lights and supplementary table lamps.

The kitchen is equipped with a Rangemaster (three ovens, grill and five ceramic induction rings); Miele dishwasher; Bosch fridge; electric kettle; coffee maker; electric toaster, and other usual appliances.

Sky TV and a radio and DVD player are available in the living room.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided for use with your own laptop, tablet or smart phone.

The living room and bedroom have fitted, velvet-pile carpets. There are hard surfaces in the kitchen, bathroom, cloakroom and utility room.

The utility room contains a freezer and a combination washer-dryer.
